Please note: This workshop aims at doctoral researchers who teach students in chemistry, biology and physics lab classes.

Teaching a lab class as a doctoral researcher can be both rewarding and demanding. Managing complex materials and technology while supporting students’ learning presents unique challenges.

This workshop is designed to help you address these challenges and to provide you with practical strategies for making lab teaching more effective and enjoyable. Together, we will explore approaches to structuring lab sessions, engaging students, and responding constructively to difficult situations.

By the end of the workshop, you will have strengthened your teaching skills, gained greater confidence, and developed tools to create a positive and productive learning environment in the lab.

Counting towards the Baden-Wuerttemberg Certificate for Teaching and Learning at University Level: Module II, Topic 1 (8 AE).

Important note for all doctoral researchers of the University of Konstanz: The costs for your participation will be covered by the Konstanz Research School. It is therefore essential that you state your status as "Doktorand*in" when registering at the HDZ/University Didactics Centre!

Dr Susanne Brüggen 

Sociologist, Consultant in the Academic Staff Development Unit at the University of Konstanz. Previously, research associate at the Department of Sociology at the University of Munich, the University of Teacher Education Thurgau and the School Municipality of St. Gallen. Longstanding experience in teaching at several universities at home and abroad (Switzerland, USA). Work areas: Teaching development, tutor training programme, peer-counselling.
