Visibility in the Hidden Job Market – Strategies for Positioning, Networking, and Approaching Executive Search Consultants (Headhunter)

Course Type: Online-Workshop
Target Group: Doctoral researchers, postdoctoral researchers
In this workshop participants learn how to strategically build visibility in the hidden job market and become attractive to key stakeholders such as executive search consultants and headhunters. The focus is on the integration of professional
positioning, strategic network development, and effective application strategies beyond traditional job advertisements.

Participants reflect on their existing professional profiles and develop a clear positioning for their desired target roles and organizations. Using platforms such as LinkedIn, institutional websites, and professional networks, the workshop
demonstrates how a professional online presence contributes to being noticed by decision-makers, executive search consultants, and headhunters.

In addition, participants learn how to communicate their skills, experience, and interests in a way that makes them visible and relevant for recruitment and search processes conducted by executive search firms. The workshop explains how profiles, keywords, and content need to be designed to ensure inclusion in searches, talent pools, and recommendation networks. Complementary strategies for targeted outreach and conversations with executive search consultants are also covered.

The goal is to systematically gain access to the hidden job market, increase personal visibility among executive search consultants and headhunters, and open up new career perspectives beyond traditional application pathways.

Counting towards the Certificate "Leadership, Management, Science Communication and Knowledge Transfer" (Module III or IV, 4 AE).
