Research Publishing in the Social Sciences – A Practical Workshop for Doctoral Researchers

Course Type: Workshop
Target Group: Advanced doctoral researchers in social sciences

This workshop will provide professional training on research publishing for advanced doctoral researchers in the social sciences. The workshop will focus on two areas: developing a publishing plan and preparing a manuscript for submission to a journal.

This is a practical workshop: as a prerequisite for participation, each participant must bring a draft conference paper (of circa 4,000-5,000 words) on any topic in the social sciences, which they will develop into a manuscript over the two days. Focused writing sessions will be combined with group discussion time and practical guidance on writing. We will address topics such as defining one’s publishing goals, the content and style of manuscripts, discoverability (titles, keywords, methods) and post publication research promotion.

On successful completion of the workshop, each candidate will have a publication plan and a draft journal manuscript.

Please note: the workshop is focused on quantitative research publishing.

Counting towards the Certificate “Leadership, Management, Transfer of Knowledge”: Module III, IV (16 AE).
