Career Strategies and Development Planning for Researchers

In cooperation with the University of Hohenheim.
 
The workshop aims to help researchers to assess their current position, to identify career goals and to develop a road map for achieving them in the individual setting. It also provides an insightful overview of the diverse German research landscape, the career system in academia, and the current drivers and trends of the world of work beyond research. Addressing both the opportunities and challenges of intersectoral mobility, the programme is designed to facilitate career decision-making in a public sector work environment characterised by project funding and temporary employment contracts.
 
By participating in this workshop, you will be better equipped to:
 
- develop a vision for your personal and professional future,
- recognise your career motivation, values, strengths, and developmental needs,
- understand how your career may be influenced by external  drivers and trends,
- make decisions in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambivalent work environment,
- and create a road map for your individual setting.
 
Please note: there will be 3.0 hours pre-workshop activities for participants.
 
The workshop is aimed at postdocs and is offered by the University of Hohenheim. 2 places are available for postdocs from Konstanz.

PD Dr. Sabine Hoidn

Sabine Hoidn is a lecturer and Head of the Student-Centered Learning Lab at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Her research focuses on higher education teaching, learning and curriculum as well as management education. In particular, she consults and conducts research in the field of student-centered learning and teaching in higher and management education with her latest co-edited handbook titled The Routledge International Handbook of Student-Centered Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2020). She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in management and education and conducts professional development lectures and workshops for faculty worldwide. She received a PhD in business education from the University of St. Gallen, and the venia legendi in educational science, especially higher education (PD) from the University of Zurich.
