A successful academic career cannot be planned on a drawing board and is determined by many external factors. However, it does not come about through enthusiastic work or trial and error alone. This session presents a seven-step approach to strategic career planning in academia. By actively planning your next steps, you can increase your self-efficacy, generate additional options for action, and experience less career uncertainty.

Longstanding experience in promoting academic careers, e.g. as managing director of the Humboldt Graduate School at the Humboldt Universität Berlin, as spokeswoman for the Network for Staff Development at Universities, as a coach and trainer for academic careers. Author of several career guides for postdocs. Member of the Coachingnetz Wissenschaft e.V .. Certified success team leader after Barbara Sher, certified trainer for mindfulness in organizations (MIO). Work areas: career advancement for postdocs.
