Communicating with Confidence and Accuracy in Academic Settings – Voice and Body Coaching for Female Doctoral Researchers

Course Type: Workshop
Target Group: Doctoral researchers (exclusively for women)

“If only my voice and body could only communicate what I am clearly thinking!“ We know communication is far more than rhetoric. If the words seem to be the right ones, they can still leave you in the lurch. Without tuning in to breath and articulation, the message does not reach the listener. Without the right attitude and dynamic use of the body, language remains buried.

Integral to voice and body training is the central idea that physical and vocal dynamics are connected to the speaker’s motivation and to the importance of the information being communicated. This workshop supports female doctoral reseachers in their conscious use of voice and body for the purpose of enhancing their impact in various academic settings.

In this workshop, you will identify your verbal challenges, giving attention to breath, articulation, intonation, volume, modulation, and tempo and you will improve non-verbal aspects such as gesture, positioning, distance, eye contact. Participants will monitor their improvement and implement feedback through active role-play exercises in which they present themselves.

Counting towards the Certificate "Leadership, Management, Science Communication and Knowledge Transfer" (Module III or IV, 12 AE).
